Every creator platform has a list of places it can pay. Most of them bury it. This is ours, why it looks the way it does, and what to do if your country is missing.
The regions
Right now VireliaVault can set up payouts for creators in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada and the United States. You pick your country when you connect payouts, and it appears in the list or it does not.
If you are outside that set, there is nothing you can do on your side today. We would rather say that plainly than let you record for a week and hit a wall at the payout screen.
Why it is not simply "wherever you live"
Payouts run through Stripe, and this is the part almost nobody explains.
A platform does not just send money to a bank account. It opens a connected payout account for each creator, and which countries it is allowed to open depends on where the platform itself is registered. VireliaVault is registered inside the European Economic Area. From there, Stripe allows connected accounts in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland, Canada and the US with no special approval.
Brazil, India, Japan, Australia and many others sit outside that set. It is not a judgement about those markets. A Brazilian marketplace can open Brazilian payout accounts perfectly well. It just cannot be done from where we are.
So when you read that a platform "supports 100 countries", check whether that means fans in 100 countries can pay, or creators in 100 countries can be paid. Those are different claims, and only one of them puts money in your account. Fans anywhere in the world can buy from you here today. The limit is on the paying-out side only.
The trap nobody warns you about
Stripe fixes a payout account's country at the moment it is created, and it can never be changed afterwards.
If you pick the wrong one, the fix is not editing a setting. It is discarding the account and starting again, which only works while payouts are still inactive. Once money has moved through it, you are stuck with the choice.
We learned this the hard way on our own setup, so take the extra ten seconds at that screen. It is the single most expensive click in the whole onboarding.
What counts as "your country"
It is where you are established, not where you happen to be sitting. Stripe verifies it during identity checks, with documents and a bank account in that country.
This matters in one honest edge case. If you live outside the supported set but have a registered business or a genuine bank account inside it, you can select that country and finish setup today. What you cannot do is pick a country you have no real connection to. Stripe checks, and it fails at verification, which is a far worse place to find out than the dropdown.
Two costs worth knowing before you choose
- Payouts within the EEA carry no cross-border fee. Payouts to accounts outside it carry a small one, charged by the payment provider.
- Sales here are priced in US dollars. If your payout account settles in another currency, a conversion happens along the way.
Neither is invented by the platform and neither is unique to us. They are the ordinary cost of moving money across borders. We mention them because plenty of platforms let you discover them on your first payout instead.
If your country is missing
We do want to add more, and we know exactly which ones people ask for, because they email us. We will not name a date, because it depends on our payment provider approving a wider setup and not only on our own work, and a month we are not sure of is worth nothing to you.
Write to us and we will keep your address on a short list. One email, on the day it works. Not a newsletter.
